Macclesfield Barnaby Festival is seeking a new Chair, or Co-Chairs, to take on leadership of this festival arts charity.

Are you excited by arts & culture? Are you passionate about bringing people out to play, to laugh, participate, enjoy & engage in Macclesfield's heritage & future? Want to make a lasting impact & work with talented team?

You could be the new chair of Macclesfield's long-running Barnaby Festival's.

Normally held in midsummer-June, the cultural festival had a reduced but physical presence this year due to COVID.

The unpaid but rewarding role will be preserving Macclesfield's strong case for culture in the future, for a town that was once called 'the most uncultured in Britain'.

"In challenging and unprecedented times Barnaby has continued to deliver opportunities for creativity, arts, culture and heritage in the town," said the festival.

"We are proud of the innovation we have brought to our work over the last eleven years, and particularly the learning we have developed over the last two years, supported by strong local partnerships and communities.

"We are now looking forward to the return of a physical Barnaby Festival in June 2022 and further developing the work of MBF to deliver our charitable objectives.

"It is an exciting time to get involved, working with our talented board of trustees, many partners and the local community.

"We are keen to encourage applications from people with Asian, black, and minority ethnic backgrounds, along with disabled people."

Informal discussions are welcome and encouraged, with the retiring Chair Abi Gilmore as host.

Please email to [email protected] to arrange a time and get contact details.

The closing date for consideration is October 15 2021.

Expressions of interest should comprise a full CV and covering letter, and should be submitted via email to [email protected].

You do not also have to be from Macclesfield to apply - but a knowledge of the town is encouraged.

You can also apply as a duo, to share the voluntary duties.
