A Liverpool indie band undertook a hundred-mile round-trip to Macclesfield to record a video for their most popular song.
Midnight at 6, the latest band to join a long-line of musicians to have shot a music video at Jodrell Bank, also shot their new music video in Wincle and Macclesfield Forest.
23,000 people have listened to Into the Wild, the latest single by the guitar-based four-piece, who are inspired by The Stone Roses and Oasis.
So for the music video, the band wanted to record somewhere special. And our countryside is close to one of their members' hearts, as a quarter of the band is from Macc.
While they all met at the University of Liverpool, synthesiser and keyboard player Luke is from our area.
"I've lived in Macclesfield my whole life (bar the four years in Liverpool)," said Luke.
"I used to live more central, just off Park Lane, but we moved to Sutton when I was just starting secondary school."
The song, which was penned when last year's lockdown was lifted, had to be filmed in the countryside due to restrictions on indoor mixing.
Luke recalled: "We pretty much had to film it outside due to the COVID-regulations at the time, plus it tied in with the theme of the song anyway.
"I suggested Macc because there's loads of outside places near where I grew up that are nice and scenic. Plus, I was living in Macc at the time, so basically it just made sense, rather than find places near Liverpool.
"Well we started with Jodrell Bank, as I'd taken some pictures of it, going there for Bluedot Festival in 2019. We went from there and I suggested the various other places to film it, tying in with the wilderness theme. Places like Macc forest, Wincle and up by The Hanging Gate were places I was very familiar with."
Vocalist Barney added: "My auntie used to live not far away in Handforth, so I visited Jodrell Bank many times as a kid – it was great to go back there again."
The track is more more dance and EDM influenced than their previous singles, and combined with the Macclesfield-shot music video, has become their most streamed track thus far.
Of the bands 66,000 total Spotify streams, half of them have come from Into The Wild.
After their visit to Lower Withington's Jodrell Bank, the band would like to perform a gig there in the future.
Luke added: "For 2022, we usually aim to release three singles a year, but in 2021 we only released the one original song, so our goal this year is to ramp the releases back up and play live more again, covid-reliant of course!
"But thank you for speaking to us, and everyone who has watched the video or streamed the track. Also big shout-out to Jodrell Bank and if Bluedot are looking for new acts...you know where to look."
You can view the video for Into the Wild above. The three-minute single can also be streamed on Spotify and Apple Music.
You can follow the band, which has one member from Macclesfield, on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
