Police in Macclesfield have been arrested two people have been arrested during a drug operation.

Officers also been apprehended outside of the town, but within the Macclesfield Local Policing Unit area.

In a tongue-in-cheek Facebook post, Sgt Simpson wrote: "Dear Drug Users of Macclesfield, are you missing your dealers? Are you struggling to find new supply lines? Good, we might have had something to do with that."

The post said they organised a "busman's holiday" today with the help of their "more covert colleagues".

"After a short time of looking around we had some success. Two persons are waiting at our convenience in the cells in Middlewich and another will come back to us at a later date to be interviewed," Sgt Simpson said.

As a result of the operation, police say they have taken drugs, cash and weapons off the streets.

In a parting warning, Sgt Simpson wrote: "I have said this before, but if dealing drugs is your chosen career path, then don't come to Macclesfield. We've caught quite a few of you recently and if you come here, we will catch you too."
