In local football, Macclesfield FC have signed a pair of new players described by Robbie Savage as "fantastic".
And it is experienced professionals who are hoping to bring wisdom to our town's young squad.
The most exciting of the two signings was Neil Danns, who has over 426 professional Football League appearances.
The Liverpool-born Guyanan international will strengthen Macclesfield's midfield.
The five-foot nine inches pro, who will turn 39 this November, is no stranger to north west football.
He made over 100 appearances and scored nine goals for Bolton Wanderers, but most recently played in Wales for Connah's Quay Nomads F.C.
The 38-year-old midfielder began his illustrious career at Liverpool, before joining Graeme Souness' Blackburn Rovers at the age of 16.
Danns, who has played in the UEFA Cup, and bagged 17 international caps, has won promotion with Colchester United, and Birmingham City.
It was with the latter in 2006 that he helped The Blues return to the Premier League.
He was even managed by Ex-England manager Sven Goran Eriksson's at Leicester City.
After a spell being promoted with Bury, and impressing for Tranmere Rovers, Neil has since played for non-league sides Radcliffe and FC Halifax Town.
He won the Cymru Premier League title with Connah's Quay Nomads earlier this year, and hopes to do bring silverware to the Silkmen.
The Silkmen currently sit first in the North West Counties Football League Premier Division.
The other signing announced with Danns was 1874 Northwich F.C's record goalscorer Scott McGowan.
The Scotsman is the oldest striker for our town's new football club, who has had a late career boom in Cheshire football.
After representing Styal in the Cheshire League, Scott then moved to Macc's rivals Congleton Town - where he became an instant fans favourite.
Much of this was due to the fact that Scott scored 30 goals in 56 games for The Bears, as he burst onto the non-league scene in devastating fashion.
A move to 1874 Northwich followed in 2016 and it was with The Greens that Scott built an incredible allegiance.
After scoring 22 goals in 50 appearances during his debut season at the Club, Scott went on to claim a record-breaking 42 strikes in the season that followed.
In addition to a brief spell at Nantwich Town, Scott would make just under 200 appearances for 1874 Northwich - finding the back of the net an incredible 135 times.
"Macclesfield FC are delighted to unveil the signing of prolific 34-year-old striker Scott McGowan," said the club.
"Scott arrives at the Leasing.com Stadium with a glowing reputation as being a deadly marksman and his goals per game ratio fully supports this."
On Danns, the club said: "Macclesfield FC are also delighted to announce the signing of highly experienced Guyana international Neil Danns on a non-contract basis."
With a combined age of 72, the two new signings are the third and fifth oldest squad members, after Steve Hodgson, Danny Whitaker, and Alex Bruce.
The new signings come with the news of Defender Kieran Kennedy leaving Macc for North West Counties League Division One South side Stockport Town.
He drops one divisions, after not quite fitting in with the Silkmen.
Elsewhere in Silkmen news, their next opponents, Winterton Rangers, embarrassingly called Director of Football Robbie Savage Macclesfield's Manager.
The gaffe, pointed out by Silks fans on Twitter, is of course wrong.
All Macc fans know our town's new football club is coached by the legendary Danny Whitaker.
