Anyone interested in fighting for a seat on either Bollington or Macclesfield town councils in next month's local election have until Thursday to register as a candidate.

Bollington Town Council currently has two vacancies to fill in the Central and East wards with Macclesfield Town Council seeking to fill its Central ward.

Those seeking to stand as candidates in the 6 May elections must complete their nomination papers and hand them in at Macclesfield Town Hall before the deadline on Thursday at 4pm.

Speaking earlier this year, Cllr John Stewart, the mayor of Bollington gave some advice to would-be councillors: "If you've got a common purpose, and that purpose serves the community well, and what you do in committee and in the council, is deliver what the community wants as a priority, then that should be that should be a good formula for success."

To obtain the relevant forms and further details about how to stand as a candidate, you can contact the Cheshire East Council elections team on 01270 685922.
