The 11th annual Bollington Beer Festival is about to take the town by storm.

This comes hot off the heels of a very successful previous year, where the festival raised over £12,500 for local Bollington good causes, with money to be raised for charity this year once more.

Held on both July 12 and July 13, the organisers are keen to strike while the iron is hot by making the festival bigger than ever before.

This is according to Phil Parry, the Chair of the Bollington Beer Festival, who kindly spoke to Macclesfield Nub News about the different offerings which they have this year.

The event will take place outdoors at the Bollington Arts Centre, Wellington Road, Bollington, Macclesfield SK10 5JR.

"We've got 48 casks of beer, 20 ciders and a gin bar as well," Phil said.

"We've got beer and cider from all four corners of England.

"We've got some interesting beers from Red Willow [located in Park Green in Macclesfield] and Bollington as well."

The ambitions of the festival have been matched by the number of local causes which have applied for donations from the Beer Festival, with there being no less than 15 applications.

Volunteers put the tent up earlier this week.

These include Bollington Arts Centre, 2nd Bollington Scouts Group, Bollington United FC and Bollington Dementia Action Alliance to name a few.

Full charities will be confirmed after the festival is ended, and the money is divvied out.

The organisers are aiming to award grants to as many of these groups as possible.

In addition to this, the Bollington Brewery Company remains an integral part of the festival, despite the business relocating to east Macclesfield.

Bollington Brewery Managing Director, Lee Wainwright, emphasised the importance of the grassroots connections that the Brewery still has with Bollington, and was steadfast in showing his support for the festival.

"I helped set up Bollington Beer Festival originally," Lee added.

"We [Bollington Brewery] have been involved in the festival since the beginning and we've helped it evolve over the years.

"The festival is a great way to raise money for Bollington."

There is almost 50 beers to enjoy, and new this year is 2/3's of a pint. Please drink responsibly.

As usual though, Beer is not the only attraction to the festival this year, with the offering ranging from three-piece indie bluegrass band The Acoustibots to Bollington Brass Band, who have become a staple of the festival.

Phil showed his gratitude to the support which the festival has received, both from volunteers and sponsors, without whom the festival wouldn't be possible.

"A massive thank you to all our sponsors", Phil also said.

"I think this year we have a record number of sponsors, for which we are very grateful.

"We've got people serving beers, selling tokens, checking tickets on the way in, and after the festival taking everything down.

"Without them we wouldn't have a festival. Thank you."

Tickets to the festival costs just £8.50 to enter, with tokens costing additional fees.
