Macclesfield FC's next opponents have produced an image parodying Robbie Savage: Making Macclesfield FC.

The documentary about our town's new football club released on Friday.

And The Silkmen's next opponent AFC Liverpool have had a laugh producing a joke graphic parodying a promotional poster for the BBC Sport programme.

The poster reads 'AFC Liverpool: Facing Macclesfield FC', and teases their game tomorrow at 7:45pm on Tuesday November 9.

It features AFC Liverpool's Chair and Vice-Chair marking a similar pose to Macclesfield FC's Owner and Director of Football.

Chris Stirrup sits at the desk and has his thumbs up like Macclesfield FC's Robbie Savage.

Meanwhile, AFC Liverpool Vice-Chair Greg Armstrong copies Rob Smethurst's pose by standing up, looking back and folding his arms.

Mr Armstrong, spoke to Macclesfield Nub News about how he made the mock poster.

"I saw some of the media promotion for the documentary on Friday, including a couple of images on Twitter and Facebook promoting it on iPlayer," he said.

"The picture of Rob and Robbie caught my eye wearing their club suits behind a desk with the club scarf and mug.

"We had all the items need to recreate our own version of the picture, and I thought it would make a great advert for our game on Tuesday.

"I stopped short of asking Mr Chairman to wear a blond wig though!"

The spoof picture was made with GIMP and FontSquirrel online tools.

"It took a few hours on Sunday to complete the final version. My girlfriend isn't happy because I should have been painting our dining room with her instead. I'm in the doghouse for sure. A case of 'suffering for my art' I think!

"I watched the documentary on Friday night on iPlayer. I really enjoyed it," Armstrong added.

"It was good to see some parallels with our own club [AFC Liverpool] from when we started in 2008. The trials and tribulations of football at this level are the same for everyone it seems.

"It was great to see the stories of the fans who wanted to see football back in Macclesfield. They'll want to be back at the level where their club used to be, and I really hope they enjoy the journey.

"In non-league, the people make the club. The best thing about volunteering for a non-league club is that you become friends with everyone involved, from fans, to players, to board members and management.

"Everyone is one big family. There are great characters and you are all in it together."

Robbie Savage approved of the spoof poster, by retweeting with three laughing emojis and a blue heart to represent The Silks.

"Seeing Robbie's tweet was great. I'm glad it was taken in the right spirit. There has been a lot of laughing and applause emojis in our twitter replies," Armstrong also said.

"I'm really happy that a lot of Macclesfield FC fans are amused by it.

"There is some good camaraderie between clubs in the North West Counties League, so this is our way of welcoming Macclesfield. I'm sure we are all in for a great match tomorrow night.

"Thanks for being great sports about our little joke at Rob and Robbie's expense. We look forward to welcoming you all to Crosby on Tuesday night. It should be a great game!"

AFC Liverpool are in 16th place in the North West Counties League Premier Division, while Macclesfield FC are in 1st.

There are 19 points between the two clubs, after 18 games played.

A Neil Danns brace saw The Silkmen drew 2-2 with Runcorn Town on Saturday.
