67 brand new apartments have just opened, smack bang in the heart of Macclesfield.

Sited between Lower Bank Street and Mill Lane, Crossings replaces a brownfield site that housed a derelict mill.

The official ceremony for Crossings's completion was held on Wednesday,

With 80% of homes reserved and many new residents moved in, it is hoped Crossings will bring an immediate boost to the local economy.

Andrew Smith (Pozzoni), Mark Howden (CEO Peaks & Plains and Chalk), David Chilton (Rowlinson) officially opened the site on Wednesday afternoon.

The Macclesfield new build contains many features that echoes the site's important local history.

To celebrate the opening of this fantastic new scheme, Chalk – Peaks & Plains Housing Trust's development arm - invited partners, contractors and local businesses to take a look at the finished apartments.

Councillors from Cheshire East Council, Macclesfield Town Council and representatives from a range of involved businesses and local organisations were invited to the event. Guests included the team from Rowlinson (principle contractor on the build) and architects Pozzoni.

The event was held in the foyer of one of the Crossings buildings, which acts as a colourful communal area where neighbours can sit, relax, read, and play games. There is also a landscaped outdoor seating area which residents can use in the warmer weather – when that arrives!

There are just a few apartments left.

Mark Howden, CEO, said at the open house event: "Crossings is a landmark development for us, sitting as it does at an important gateway to the town, on the site of a derelict and disused mill – a brownfield site that others had tried, and failed, to develop.

"Thanks to designers and contractors, including Rowlinson and Pozzoni, it's a really quality build that offers local people real choice in the housing market in Macclesfield.

"I'm delighted to say that we have just a handful of apartments left to buy – the rest are already reserved. Proof, if any were needed, that there is real demand for quality homes in a great neighbourhood'."

At the moment, 80% of all homes at Crossings are reserved and 100% of homes available to rent are reserved. For more information about the remaining one and two bed apartments that are available through Shared Ownership, get in touch with Chalk – you can contact their sales team on 0151 703 3703 or visit their page on Righ

Crossings was a local development conducted by predominantly local organisations. For example, Peaks and Plains Housing Trust have an office on Ropewalks, Newton Street.
