Investigations into river pollution in Bollington are ongoing.

The River Dean in Bollington was turned bright blue on Thursday (May 1).

Thankfully, it has now returned to normal and the source has been identified.

However, the Environment Agency are not able to to comment on the matter further at this time, due to an ongoing investigation.

A spokesperson for the public body said: “Officers attended a site in Bollington yesterday following reports of pollution in the River Dean.

"The pollution has now cleared.

"We have identified the source and taken steps to limit any environmental harm.

"We encourage the public to continue reporting pollution incidents to our 24-hour incident hotline on 0800 80 70 60.”

As part of the Environment Agency's ongoing investigation, a harmless red dye is expected to be used in the river on Friday (May 2).
