An altruistic Macclesfield boy has ran to raise awareness and donations for a Macclesfield charity.

Nathaniel Bradbury-Adam ran the Mini Manchester Run on Saturday to raise pantry donations for the Macclesfield Community Initiative - Children and Baby Library.

Macclesfield Community Initiative - Children And Baby Library is a mostly-free service which provides toys, books and more to help families in Macclesfield.

Macclesfield Community Initiative - Children And Baby Library receives no government funding, and relies on the generosity of the public, including those like young Nathaniel.

Proud mum Melissa said: "Dave and I couldn't be prouder of him, he really tries to give his all to everything and having tonsillitis didn't slow him down it made him more determined.

"Nathaniel is also really proud of himself."

The Broken Cross Academy pupil's favourite part of the day was the atmosphere and the giant puddle he played in afterwards.

This achievement was despite Nathaniel being poorly just two days before the race.

"He got struck with tonsillitis Thursday but was determined to run and make sure he could contribute to the pantry," revealed Melissa.

Shannon Lancaster, who operates Macclesfield Community Initiative - Children And Baby Library said: "We are so pleased that young people see the need and importance for food items especially at such a young age.

"We will be able to support more families in need thanks to Nathaniel's amazing efforts.

Most items at Macclesfield Children and Baby Library are free to the end user. Helping families in need in Macclesfield.

"Well done!"

The service has had a surge of users with the ongoing cost of living crisis.

"At the moment we have two full bags and more donations to deliver, he's involved Little PUMAs Taekwondo too, he wants to deliver the second part of donations to Shannon this Saturday when we've also got the last bits from the money he's been sent," added Melissa.

Nathaniel has dropped off the first lot of donations with the help of his best pal Jaxson.

"He already is on the hunt for additional runs he can take part in to keep raising the bar and keep the pantry stocked including Heaton Park, Lidl Tough Mudder.

"He definitely raises the bar each time and he's already signed up to the notifications for next year's application to take part again."
