There will be a famous face at the ribbon cutting ceremony for Macclesfield's new Ian Curtis mural this weekend.

The Mill Street mural to the Joy Division singer who was raised and lived in our town will be completed on Thursday.

To celebrate, an unofficial ceremony will be held by Macclesfield Town Council on Saturday afternoon.

A special guest will be the ribbon cutter, with their identity to be confirmed closer to the time.

This is according to a statement from Macclesfield Town Council.

"Macclesfield Town Council are keen to acknowledge the Ian Curtis mural, and offer our thanks to Cheshire East Council," they said.

"There will be a ribbon cutting this Saturday March 26 1pm, organised by the Mayor of Macclesfield and attended by a special guest!

"We will share more details as and when we have them."

The project got off the ground thanks to the Macclesfield Cultural Forum and Cheshire East Cultural Economy Team.
