Macclesfield has opened a book of condolences for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, following her passing on Thursday Afternoon.

Macclesfield Town Council, with permission of building owners Cheshire East Council, have opened a book of condolences on the ground floor of Macclesfield Town Hall on Market Place.

"We have opened a book of condolence in the reception area of the old Town Hall and invite the community to visit and leave their message," said the Council.

"The book of condolence will be available 9-3:30pm.

"It will then transfer to St Michael's [Chuch, next door] at 4-6pm during the week and then 9-5pm at the weekend.

"Flowers can be left outside the Town Hall or at St Michael's, Macclesfield, however we ask that you remove any cellophane or plastic ties.

"This will allow us to compost the flowers once they are removed, and the compost will be used around the Queen's tree."

A condolence book will be available at Bollington Town Hall today from 9-30 am until 3pm
