Macclesfield charity Space4Autism launches crowdfunder ahead of 20th anniversary
A Macclesfield charity, just months away from their 20th anniversary, has launched a new crowdfunder.
Space4Autism, of Mill Lane, provides support to children, young people, adults and their families affected by the autism spectrum.
It is a safe space to play, have a brew, relax, and meet new people.
The charity was initially established as a support group located upstairs in The Silk Trader pub.
Fast-forward to today, they support over 8500 autistic young people, adults and their families.
The charity was co-established by Cheryl Simpson MBE, who has co-launched the new crowdfunder.
"We like many other charities are struggling with funding this financial year and really need support to raise £100k to keep our 'spaceship' flying," she said.
"We really need your help to save 'Space'. Space costs upwards of £600,000 a year to keep running.
"We are really struggling for funds this financial year. We got through the pandemic, we have got through the cost of living crisis. Also with our utilities doubling over last year.
"But we really do need your help. There are many ways you can help, so we have set up a crowdfunder."

"I co-founded the charity back in 2005. We want to make it 20 [years], and beyond.
"We run eight separate social clubs for all different ages, through children to adults.
"We also help parent carers with advice and support. We did offer counselling to our adults, but due to lack of funding we also had to close this down.
"We also held a walking group, but again to a lack of funding this is probably going to close in December."
The charity also has a sensory room, a gaming room, a sensory garden and community coffee shop.
Space4Autism moved into their current Mill Lane site in October 2017.
Cheryl was inspired to co-start the charity after being a mum of autistic children, she could not find local support.
"There is so much more we can do for the autistic spectrum community, and I just want to make sure that Space4Autism is always here in the future. With any help you can offer, even if it is just donating a pound. As I say, it costs £600,000 at the moment to run Space4Autism.
"If we can get half, from our fantastic community out there, it will really be appreciated. Thank you."
