Macclesfield: Controversial plans for telecommunications pole in Rainow receives 47 responses from public
Residents have caused a rumble in Rainow over potential installation of 82-foot high telecommunication mast.
A hilly field on the steep narrow road of Lidgetts Lane has been earmarked for "the installation of 25m High Valmont climbable monopole for 6 No. Antenna Apertures, Dishes and associated ancillary works."
It already has prior approval, but the final thumbs up is expected to be given by Cheshire East Council at the end of the month.
This is despite perhaps the most-responded to planning application of 2023 so far, with 45 responses from residents and two similarly negative comments from nearby parish councils.
Concerns over 5G and a perceived lack of research into the health effects dominate the reasonings of those who have submitted a comment.
And there's still time for people to write in their comments.
But with EE & Hutchinson 3G UK Ltd submitting similar planning applications at Cumberland Street and Ivymeade seeming like they will get the go ahead, it would be no surprise if the overwhelming public response didn't stop the construction.
The plans were previously wanted for Marksend Quarry, but have now moved to Lidgetts Lane.
One resident said: "I strongly object to this proposal, my main concern is Health and Safety, the effects of 5g short and long term are still yet unknown on human and animal life.".
Another said: "The surrounding area is regularly enjoyed by walkers and cyclists and this new structure will scar the landscape as well as detrimentally affecting the views and enjoyment of this area for a great many people."
Cheshire East Council do not comment on live planning applications.
EE & Hutchinson 3G UK Ltd will be contacted fort comment.
