Macclesfield Nub News brings you the latest COVID-19 data when you need it most.

As parents head back to the office, and their offspring prepare to go back to school, we have seen cases significantly rise.

The latest COVID-19 figures from GOV.UK reveal Macclesfield is approaching 300 active cases, a figure only set to increase as this week's heatwave and returning to school have not been taken into account.

The latest data, listed below, is for a positive test for coronavirus for the seven days leading to September 3 2021.

Please note: these figures are just before most children and teens went back to school, which is a largely unvaccinated population.

Brackets denotes the change from a fortnight ago, when we last published the latest COVID-19 figures for our town.

Across Cheshire East, there was a total of 1419 cases of COVID-19 from September 3 2021. Up 275 from the previous seven days.

The highest vaccination data in our area has Gawsworth & Macclesfield Forest with 90.8% having a first dose, and 86.2% having a second dose.

Central Macclesfield has just 82.2% with their first COVID dose, and 75.7%, just over three quarters, with a second.

Please note: the former ward has a high concentration of old people, while the latter has the reverse, representing the young.

In our borough, 300,196 people had been given a first dose by the end of 7 September 2021.

2019 figures suggest 380,694 live in our area. This suggests 78.85% of Cheshire East have had at least one vaccine against the virus.

Two people with coronavirus went into hospital on 29 August 2021.

Between 23 August 2021 and 29 August 2021, six went into hospital with coronavirus. This shows an increase of 200.0% compared to the previous 7 days.

There were 9 patients in hospital with coronavirus on 31 August 2021.

Some people in the hospital need to use a special device called a mechanical ventilator to help them breathe.

There were two Cheshire East coronavirus patients in hospital beds with a mechanical ventilator on 31 August 2021.

There were three borough deaths reported within 28 days of a positive test for coronavirus on 8 September 2021.

Between 2 September 2021 and 8 September 2021, there have been five deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test.

This shows an increase of 66.7% compared to the previous seven days.

Due to data protection reasons, it is unknown of the hospitalised or deceased were from our town, or at Macclesfield District General Hospital.
