Macclesfield firefighters want to meet the community this month
A free event is encouraging Maxonians to come and meet their local firefighters.
The Macclesfield Fire Station Open Day will take place this weekend on Chester Road, spread across six hours.
On Sunday 22 September, 11am-4pm, a free family-friendly event will hope to bring together the community and the fire-tackling key workers.
"Every year our fire stations open their doors to the public, welcoming people of all ages in their communities to connect with their local firefighters," said Cheshire Fire and Rescue.
Now, it is Macclesfield's turn.
"The open days are free entry and you can be guaranteed that there will be something there for all the family including live firefighter and/or fire cadet demonstrations, fire appliances, free safety advice and much more," they added.
Vintage fire engines could also make an appearance. There is also the chance to hop in a current one.
Furthermore, it will be the last Fire Station open day held in Cheshire this year.
Additionally, a special (SEN hour, 10am-11am), for children with special educational needs will be held on the same date.
"Our open days are open to everyone, and we fully understand that some people may find the noise of sirens and flashing lights overwhelming," explained the Fire Service.
"Many of our station open days will feature SEN hours when firefighters and staff will be able to spend time with people with hidden disabilities to create a more supportive and inclusive environment accessible to all. Then, should an emergency situation occur in their homes, they will have had initial contact with the emergency services."

The most recent recorded fire in Macclesfield attended by fighters was yesterday, at a commercial food and drink unit on Little Street.
A fire in a piece of kitchen equipment was found on the ground floor of a two-storey building. Two firefighters in breathing apparatus rapidly deployed into the property with a hose reel jet.
Gas and electricity was isolated as the fire was being tackled and a thermal imaging camera used to check for hotspots. A high pressure fan was put into operation to clear smoke.
All people from the building were accounted for and an investigation into the cause of the fire carried out.
