A local photographer has managed to capture the moment a real robin landed on top of a robin ornament.

Paul Beech, 60, captured the 'quirky' photo in his back garden last week and says "you have to look twice to see which one is real."

Mr Beech, who lives in Macclesfield, has been practicing wildlife photography for around 20 years as a hobby.

"I was practicing for a seasonal photograph when it snows," he said.

"I put the object out with a bit of seed behind it to see what would happen.

"I was doing something with my camera, and when I looked up it had plonked itself on top of it.

"I managed to get a snap of it quick."

Paul posted the impressive picture on his wildlife photography Facebook page, where other members were quick to praise the shot.

One commented "Awesome photo!" while another added "I love this."

The page, named Paul's Wildlife & Nature Photography, has over 4400 members

Robins can be found in Macclesfield all-year round. The notoriously territorial birds weigh between 14 and 21 grams, according to the RSPB.
