Macclesfield resident arrested and charged following shoplifting at outdoor shop

A Macclesfield man has been arrested and charged after police were called to an incident of shoplifting in the town centre.

On Saturday afternoon, Cheshire Police attended Mountain Warehouse of 9-13 Mill Street, after clothing was reported to have been stolen.

In a statement sent to Macclesfield Nub News, Cheshire Police said: "Shortly after 2pm on Saturday 21 September officers in Macclesfield were made aware of reports of shoplifting at Mountain Warehouse."

"Following enquiries, a 59-year-old man was arrested nearby.

"Wayne Murray, of Castle Street, Macclesfield, was subsequently charged with shoplifting.

"He has been released on bail and is set to appear at Crewe Magistrates Court on Thursday 17 October."

On Facebook, Macclesfield Central Police praised the Grosvenor Shopping Centre security officers for their help.
