Macclesfield residents encouraged to practice yoga for East Cheshire Hospice
You've heard of a marathon. You've heard of a bikeathon. But have you heard of a yogathon?
East Cheshire Hospice is encouraging Macclesfield to take part in a lengthy yoga programme, in a bid to boost wellness and generate money for the palliative care charity.
East Cheshire Hospice's Yoga Challenge is a new two-week virtual event promoting physical health, mental well-being, and community spirit while raising funds for East Cheshire Hospice.
Participants commit to daily yoga, mindfulness activities, and fundraising for the Hospice.
Entrants will breathe, stretch, and namaste their way through 14 days of practice. You will receive a t-shirt as thanks for taking part, as well as to help you raise awareness for your fundraiser.
Participants are invited to raise at least £50. According to the Hospice, £50 could pay for complimentary therapies such as massages, reflexology, reiki and acupuncture.
In addition to individuals, Macclesfield yoga businesses will be invited to take part.
Fundraisers can practice at home, or at many of Macclesfield's independent yoga studiuos (such as Fold or Dharma Yoga).
"Our '14 Days of Yoga' challenge will take place from September 9 to September 22," said East Cheshire Hospice.
"Open to all skill levels, the challenge offers various yoga styles and difficulties, ensuring everyone can participate and benefit at their own pace.
"Thank you to everyone who will take part. Every penny counts toward supporting our end-of-life care services."
The fundraising platforms to be used for each yogi will be either JustGiving or Facebook.
