Macclesfield: Wheelie bin toppled over on dangerous Cat and Fiddle bend
A Cheshire Police officer has warned residents of rural Macclesfield to keep an eye on their household bins.
Speaking on social media, Sergeant Rob Simpson informed the dangers that rubbish bins on the road can cause.
"I was just thinking to myself about all the litter I've seen on the country lanes tonight, predominantly from two fast food outlets, when I've now come across this," he said.
"Two wheelie bins, the black one further down the road around a corner and this one. (Both on bends)
"Now there's not much of a breeze up here and I doubt they've rolled as far as they have by themselves.
"Time to get the shovel out whilst I await highways. In the meantime there's plenty of glass on the road here on the A537 Cat & Fiddle Road.
"I can only surmise as to how and why they are where they are, but obviously it's a hazard all round!
"It really enforces that, drive expecting there to be hazard around the next bend."
There have also been unverified reports of bins toppling over on the 50 mile per hour road towards Kettleshulme.
Bungee cords, brackets or sandbags can help weigh bins down. Preventing them, and the trash inside, from being strewn all over the road.
Macclesfield Nub News reader Paul suggests hooking them to a fence.
