A passionate baker has opened up his own Market Stall outside Macclesfield Town Hall.

Kacper Serafin trades once a week on Market Place.

His business - Polka - sells freshly baked sweets and savouries.

From six types of sourdough bread to traditional Polish custard tarts, the stall is a treat for the senses.

He trades in front of Macclesfield Town Hall every Tuesday, from 8am to 3-ish (dependent on when he's sold out of everything!)

Macclesfield Nub News went to meet Kacper to find out what Polka is all about.

"We are at 50 markets monthly across Manchester and Cheshire", said Kacper.

"My main goal was to sell traditional Polish food, and popularise it."

Kacper, who has another part-time job as a designer, has done this as a passion project to raise the profile of Polish food in the UK.

He named the business Polka - a Polish word - as a reference to this, as he wants to put Polish food on the map, so-to-speak.

He has seen the potential in Macclesfield, and comes all the way from Sale every Tuesday to sell his goods.

He wants to see more market traders trade outside on Market Place, like there historically has been with the town.

"We sell things like Polish pizza, which is influenced by the huge Polish diaspora in Chicago, USA", added Kacper.

"For me, the key thing is to make Polish food as popular as French, Italian or Chinese food.

"We do everything handmade, we know nothing smells better on this planet than freshly baked goodies.

"If we don't manage to sell everything, we donate food either to a Fire Station near my home, or to a soup kitchen.

The stall has offers for buying more like three rolls for £6, or six rolls for £10. A strategy which cuts down on waste, and - as seen by this photo - it evidentially works. (Image - Macclesfield Nub News)

"I don't like to throw out food, when I grew up in the 90s in Poland it was a very tough time. People were struggling with food so I don't like to waste.

As well as curious Brits, the business is a welcome addition by Macclesfield's Polish community, with many fans already singing praises for the market stall in Macclesfield's 1000-strong Polish Facebook group.

The long-term goal is for Kacper to open his own brick-and-mortar premises somewhere, but a market stall has been an affordable way to kickstart his dream.

If you can't wait until next Tuesday, you can follow Polka on Facebook and Instagram to see what nearby towns they are going to be at.
