New cancer support group set to launch in Macclesfield

A new cancer support group is ready to launch.
Breast Cancer Now are bringing a 'Living with Secondary Breast Cancer' group to Macclesfield.
Secondary breast cancer, also called advanced or metastatic breast cancer, is when cancer cells spread from the breast to other parts of the body, such as the lungs, bones, liver, brain and skin.
The new group is being run in collaboration with nurses at the Christie Macclesfield, who felt there was a need for a dedicated support group for secondary breast cancer patients.
Kate Lawson, Breast Cancer Now's secondary breast cancer services coordinator, said: "We know a diagnosis of secondary breast cancer can mean adjusting to difficult changes in your life, and sometimes it can help to talk with other people in a similar situation.
"Our Living with Secondary Breast Cancer groups give you the chance to do just that, in a relaxed and supportive environment."
The Living with Secondary Breast Cancer group will involve around five to 15 people living with secondary breast cancer as well as an experienced counsellor.
It will meet from 11am to 1pm on the second Thursday of each month at a location close to Cumberland Street, with the exact location given to those who sign up.
Anyone interested in attending can register here.
