New charity launches near Macclesfield tomorrow

It is not often there is the privilege to report on a new charity.

But the public can witness a new good cause be founded tomorrow, at a launch event at Alderley Park.

MS-CAS are new charity launching on Friday at Alderley Conference Centre 11am - 2pm, supporting local people with Multiple Sclerosis.

To mark the occasion, alocal celebrity and the Macclesfield Mayor Chris Willcock will be attending. 

In a statement the charity said: "Independent charity Multiple Sclerosis-Community Action and Support will be taking over local support and services from The Macclesfield group of the MS Society."

"We aim to listen to local people living with MS, create a community and offer support for health and wellbeing. We will work in partnership with local health and social care professionals.

"Most of the team have been involved in the running of the Macclesfield MS Society so have a wealth of experience.

 The charity, which has a registered address in Hurdsfield has five trustees.

One of which already is a trustee for Macclesfield's charities The Rossendale Trust and Disability Information Bureau.

Trustee Anne Doggart is a retired nurse and volunteer.

Anne has a close family member with MS and understands the impact on peoples quality of life. Anne is proud to be one of 5, skilled, committed and experienced trustees involved with MS-CAS.

Trustee Brian Grimmett is a retired lawyer who is pleased to be part of a group meeting the needs of local people with MS.

The other three trustees include retired neurophysiotherapist Norma Roberts, retired planning executive Paul Sadler and Andrew Richards former accounts executive.

MS is a condition that affects your brain and spinal cord. At least 130,000 Brits have the life-long condition.
