New gym refurbishments complete at Macclesfield College
A Macclesfield gym has relaunched with major improvements.
Lifestyle Fitness, which has been part of Macclesfield College's campus for over 13 years, is a state-of-the-art gym open to the general public.
The Park Lane gym has just completed a full-scale refurbishment.
The refurbishment features a brand new spin studio, a new functional zone, and a more spacious gym floor.
Michelle Houldcroft, who has been the gym's Manager for the past four years, is elated with the renovations.
"Our facilities can be used by students, staff, and also the general public," said Michelle.
"We decided to refurb as the kit - while very well maintained - was getting a little bit old.
"But we felt a lot of our members have been here for over ten years, so to keep in line with the the development going on in the town and the College's growth and rebrand that it was the right time for us to do some improvements.
"We wanted to give our existing and new members something really exciting. We are very much a community-based gym and offer facilities from first time gymgoers, to seasoned gymgoers.
"A lot of our members are 35 plus, we have a great community over over 60s too.
"But we also cater for the young as well which a lot of gyms round here don't do, we have a bespoke membership package for 12-15 year-olds."
Other improvements include additional brand new equipment, upgraded changing facilities, and a larger free weights area.
Their classes - which includes things like spin class - will also benefit from the renovations.
"We used to run 13 classes a week," explained Michelle.
"But now with the refurb, we are now able to grow and expand the amount of classes we over.
"We are quite a budget friendly gym. We like to think we are one of the diverse clubs for classes, as we run everything from the hard-hitting intense bootcamp classes to tai chi, yin yoga and pilates."
"Because we are on the site of Macclesfield College a few people think we are for College staff and pupils only. But that is not the case, we are here, part of the community and anyone is welcome."
And they have even found time to give back despite all the money spent on the new furnishings.
Lifestyle Fitness Macclesfield has three chosen charities, being East Cheshire Hospice, Silklife Foodbank, and this year for the first time they will host a fundraiser for Macclesfield's Space4Autism as well.
Their membership is £21.99 per month, with that there is no contract or joining fee.
But with the refurb there is a special code 'MCREFRESH', where you can get the first two months at half-price. [£10.99].
Rachel Kay, Principal and Chief Executive for Macclesfield College had this to say on the new-look gym.
'We are delighted to welcome the refurbishment of the gym and are excited to see the new facilities and equipment in action," she said.
"Our staff and students will benefit greatly from the refresh and we look forward to the gym's ongoing success in the future."
The gym is open seven days per week.
