Officers visited several bars in Wilmslow this weekend as part of an ongoing operation targeting recreational drug use across Cheshire.
On Saturday 13 August officers from Macclesfield Local Policing Unit (LPU), with support from the Special Constabulary and police drugs dog, conducted checks at seven licensed premises and four searches were made on all indications from the drugs dog.
A 39-year-old man from Wilmslow was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled class A drug (cocaine). He was released under investigation pending further enquiry.
Detective Chief Inspector Duncan Gouck said: "Any drug related activity will not be tolerated and this weekend has shown how we are doing all we can to crackdown on this crime.
"Recreational drug use is not just a one off, it is fuelling criminal activity around the county, abetting the exploitation of the most vulnerable in our society and lining the pockets of organised crime gangs.
"Not only this, but the ingredients in drugs such as cocaine are simply not fit for human consumption and contain the likes of poison and cleaning products.
"So I would urge those who do take 'just a line of cocaine' at the weekend to stop and just think about the wider picture of their actions."
