Backgammon players from across the North West are set to flock to Prestbury.

The Bridge will play host to the annual Brian Lever Memorial Trophy later this month.

Taking place over the weekend of November 29 and 30 and will see 64 players compete for the trophy.

Organiser Danny Cohen said: "Anyone wishing to take up backgammon or improve their backgammon is welcome to attend!"

Now in its third year, the tournament is named after the late Brian Lever, a backgammon player and solicitor who practised in the Cheshire area.

It will raise money for four local charities: Counselling and Family Centre in Altrincham; a community food bank in Sharston; Asthma and Lung UK; and The Horsfall.

Alongside the tournament there will be a silent auction and a tombola.

The star listing from the auction is a photo montage entitled 'Backgammon by the Bollin' by local photographic artist, Neil Roland.
