Inspectors were full of praise for a 'welcoming' Macclesfield primary school.

Christ the King Catholic and Church of England Primary School is celebrating a glowing Ofsted report after being rated 'good' in all areas.

Nicola Leigh, acting headteacher, is proud of the improvements they have made following a 'challenging period'.

She said: "We are absolutely delighted with the outcome of our recent Ofsted inspection.

"This result is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and resilience of our staff, children, and wider school community.

"After a challenging period, we have worked tirelessly with the support of our trust to make significant improvements, and it's incredibly rewarding to see that recognised.

"We remain committed to continuing this journey of growth and ensuring the very best outcomes for our pupils."

Ofsted inspectors visited the Fir Grove school, part of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic (OLHOC) Academy Trust, across April 23 and 24.

It was the first graded inspection since becoming an academy.

The report, published earlier this month, highlights school's strong academic offer, inclusive ethos and high standards of care and behaviour.

Inspectors wrote: "The school holds high ambition for pupils. This includes those pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).

"A significant number of pupils join the school part way through their primary education. At whatever point a pupil becomes part of this welcoming school, there is a drive for them to succeed."

Pupils were described as 'well mannered, courteous and considerate' and learn in 'calm' classrooms with little disruption. ."

The report also commended the school's wider curriculum offer, including clubs such as gardening and art, and the care pupils show for the school guinea pigs, which help develop 'understanding of responsibility and care'.

CEO of OLHOC Trust, Mark Mountcastle, said: "We are so proud of the whole community following this amazing achievement for Christ the King.

"The school is a very special place, full of love, care and commitment to excellence. Going from special measures to good is a credit to everyone who has worked relentlessly for the community.

"We look forward to a very positive future, continuing as a beacon of excellence for the whole community."

The report does note a few ways in which the school could improve.

It states: "In a small number of subjects, teachers do not teach parts of the essential knowledge set out in the curriculum in sufficient depth. As a result, some pupils' knowledge is insecure.

"The school should make certain that teachers deliver the curriculum as intended, so that pupils are well prepared for the next stage of education.

"Some pupils do not attend school often enough. This limits how well they learn.

"The school should establish effective systems that ensure pupils attend school regularly."
