Macclesfield charity receives crowdfunded £10,000 vehicle, paid by community following crime
In May, we reported on a crowdfunder for a vandalised charity bus.
It occurred on the early May bank holiday weekend, and shocked the charity Space4Autism, along with the wider Macclesfield community.
A crowdfunding campaign was quickly launched, and £10,999 of the £10,000 goal was raised for a new bus before the end of the month.
Now, the Macclesfield charity which supports kids with autism, have purchased a new bus to take children to events.
Space4Autism CEO and Co-founder Cheryl Simpson MBE took snaps with the new bus, and had this to say in buying the new vehicle.
"Just wanted to send a huge huge thank you to everyone who supported Space4autism in being able to buy another bus," she said.
"You are all so amazing as we couldn't have bought another bus without your help.
"Plants Luxury Travel Ltd not only gave us £800 off the bus, but they are also delivering it to us on Sunday.
"And the wonderful people at Sphere in Macclesfield have said we can park it on their car park and they are going to brand it up at cost price. Just brilliant.
"There are some amazing people out there."
The seats of the new bus even share a colour scheme with the autism charity, set up by Macclesfield parents in 2005.
Currently no perpetrators have been caught from the smashing in of the Macclesfield charity bus.
Macclesfield Nub News contacted Cheshire Constabulary for comment, who had this to say.
"At 10.41am on Monday 3 May police were called to reports that of criminal damage at a site on Gaw End Lane, Lyme Green.
"Police attended the scene and found that three cars and a mini bus, which were being store at the premises, had been damaged.
"Enquiries in relation to this incident remain ongoing and as part of the investigation officers have released CCTV images of a number of people they are looking to speak to.
"Anyone with any information, or anyone who recognised the people in the CCTV images is asked to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML978979 or visit this website."
Even if the foursome are not caught, the delivery of the new bus will help provide some closure to the Macclesfield good cause.
