A strong focus on reading and high expectations for pupils' learning has seen Marlborough Primary School retain its 'Good' Ofsted status.

Following a two-day visit at the end of February, the inspector wrote that the Tytherington school is welcoming and friendly, and pupils flourish and feel happy to be part of such a warm and caring community.

The inspector noted that the school, part of The Fallibroome Trust, has high expectations for pupils' learning and pupils are proud to rise to meet these, achieving well across a range of subjects. Pupils are polite and respectful, behave well and understand and follow the school rules.

The inspector highlighted the school's strong focus on reading begins in the early years and goes all the way through to Key Stage 2 where pupils demonstrated very positive attitudes, when talking about the interesting range of books that they have enjoyed reading.

Staff consistently ensure that pupils read at home and at school regularly and they read well with secure understanding.

The inspector said the school and The Fallibroome Trust have worked together effectively to design an 'ambitious' curriculum, with staff receiving effective training to deliver it with confidence.

Staff spoke overwhelmingly positively about the school and the way that decisions are made with their workload and well-being in mind.

The promotion of the physical and mental health of pupils is a strength.

Malborough Primary School is located at Tytherington Drive, Tytherington, Cheshire, Macclesfield SK10 2HJ.

Headteacher Mrs Susan Pollard said: "We were delighted with the inspector's impressions of our school and recognition of how much effort we put in to making this a place where children come, feel happy and enjoy learning.

"The inspector noted that our staff feel very positive about the school - that's a real strength. There's a sense of team and staff who care and work effectively together. Everyone has ownership and a real desire and drive to be the best we can be."
