Police have made three arrests after finding a cannabis farm at a property in Macclesfield.
Enquiries are ongoing after Macclesfield Police, supported by the Cheshire Police Rural Crime Team and a police dog unit, conducted a warrant at a large rural premises in Macclesfield.
After conducting the warrant, they found multiple rooms filled with hundreds of cannabis plants.
Sgt Simpson, of the Cheshire Police Rural Crime Team, spoke more about the raid.
He said: "Brilliant work by our colleagues from Macclesfield Police who on Friday, supported by us and a police dog unit conducted a warrant at a large rural premises in the #Macclesfield area. The Macclesfield South Community team led the warrant with support from Congleton and Poynton teams and door entry courtesy of E Block Response.
"The RCT as you'd imagine sealed off the surrounding fields and the grounds to prevent anyone exiting who would prefer not to discuss the contents of the building. Once secured, we then moved forward to assist our colleagues at the address.
"As we've previously discussed, we know that rural properties make an attractive option for those that wish to conduct their illegal activities out of sight. Please do let us know if you suspect a rural property is being used for illegal activities.
"This old house had been adapted to be used as a cannabis farm with multiple rooms being used and hundreds of plants.
"Three arrests were made at the location and enquiries are ongoing.
"It's important to note that these sites can be really hazardous for us to work in for obvious reasons. Bypassed electricity, with poor wiring, chemicals, and much more. Also you can find on occasion that rival gangs may attempt to steal from one another. In those cases there can be implements that fall from ceilings to crush, impale, cut and ultimately kill anyone (including the police) entering unaware.
"Thankfully no booby traps at this one!
"Quite rightly no-one wants these kind of set ups popping up in their community. The possible human trafficking, modern slavery et al that goes hand in hand.
"Despite people having varying feelings about certain drugs, whilst it's illegal we will enforce the law."
