It is that time of week again, where your FREE online newspaper rounds up the best events going on this weekend.

Now without further ado, here's the four best things you can do in Macclesfield this weekend.

Classical Music

Tickets range from £15 to £25.

This Saturday, violinist Sophie Rosa will lead a concert in which the composer Piazzolla challenges Vivaldi to a Four Seasons Tango duel.

This classical music extravaganza will take place at the King's School Macclesfield, with parking on-site.

Tickets for the concert on Alderley Road start at £15.

Ukraine Concert

The Angel At My Table cafe will be open before and after the concert.

It has been almost a year since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine

And on, Saturday 18th February, Macclesfield's best-known church will be hosting a concert in aid of those impacted by the war.

The lunchtime concert from 1.15 - 2.15pm and is a performance by the many talented musicians from the Ukrainian community in Macclesfield and Congleton.

Entry is free, but we will welcome donations towards charities supporting innocent victims of the war both here in Cheshire and in Ukraine.

Bubblegum Pop

Mash Guru is located inside Macclesfield's Castle Quarter, on the steep cobbles of Back Wallgate.

Grrls Like Us are working with the wonderful folks at the Castle Quarter's MASH to bring some amazing DIY bands & late-night discos to Macclesfield in 2023!

The first night is on 18 February will host Yorkshire rockers Nervous Twitch.

Leeds-based Nervous Twitch mix a '60's girl group sound with punk and a cool C86 indie vibe. They've just released their fifth album, Some People Never Change on Reckless Yes. Check them out here: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJwOiL_h3vU).

After the band, there'll be a Grrls Like Us DJ set until late. We'll be playing indiepop, postpunk, punk, 90s/00s alternative & DIY pop bangers to get you on the dancefloor with bands like Amyl and the Sniffers, Blondie, the Breeders, Wet Leg & more!

Entry is £3 on the door, with the show starting from 10pm.

Free Church Event

Saturday 18th February

Christ Church Macclesfield is located on Bridge Street.

Chase away your winter blues on Bridge Street by joining Christ Church for their February Midwinter Opening.

The free event will have refreshments, children's crafts, book & charity stalls, and live music from Open Strings Macc and local talent Lilly Hill.

The festivities are a precursor and after party to the Macclesfield Lantern Parade, which will begin at Silk Museum near Park Green at 5:30pm on Saturday 18th February.

But if you don't fancy the walk, just head to Christ Church early and at around 6pm, the Macclesfield Town Council Lantern Parade will be arriving and finishing up their light spree.
