A team of local carers will be taking on the Macclesfield FC women's team in a fundraising event for the charity Parkinson's UK.

England may take Spain on the Euros on Sunday, but another important match will take place closer to home on Sunday.

Sarah Vickers and the team from Carefound Home Care in Wilmslow will be taking to the pitch at the Leasing.com Stadium, the Home of Macclesfield FC this Sunday at 1:30PM, with the aim of raising as much money as possible for Parkinson's UK.

To book tickets, please contact Carefound Homecare via [email protected] or ring 01625 326 470.

With an aim to raise £1000, the team are keen to get as many people through the gates as possible with tickets costing just £5.00 as a minimum donation, although those who can are certainly not discouraged from donating more.

Kick off is 1:30PM and it will be a 60 minute game in total. The entrance and bar will be open to purchase beverages and food from 1:00PM.

A raffle will also be held, with prizes from both football clubs Macclesfield FC and Premier League side Manchester United.

Macclesfield Nub News spoke to Sarah, the organiser of the event.

She told Macclesfield Nub News that this event resonates at the core of everyone involved at Carefound.

"From both a personal and professional point of view we have all been affected by the disease and so it means a lot to be fundraising for them," she explained.

"We have been overwhelmed by the support so far in terms of donations and raffle prizes from local businesses.

"I subtly persuaded a team of our carers to join me in playing the charity football match and we all come with very limited to none football experience!"

Parkinson's disease is a progressive neurological condition, and the fastest growing condition of its kind in the world.

About 153,000 people live with Parkinson's in the UK. That is according to the very same charity the footie match will raise funds for.

To book tickets, please contact Carefound Homecare via [email protected] or ring 01625 326 470.

Funds from this event will be used by the charity to support those who suffer from Parkinson's in a number of ways, but most notably to fund research to which will help us to understand the condition better.
