An opticians in Macclesfield has pledged £7,200 to support Macclesfield FC, following the club's title-winning first season.

The new season deal will see Specsavers, on Mill Street Mall in The Grosvenor Shopping Centre, sponsoring three top players.

They will back the team's new forward, 22-year-old Neil Kengni and 24-year-old right-back Jacob Hanson. The latter played a big part in last season's trophy-winning campaign.

Midfielder Max Bardsley-Rowe, who is also the club's Commercial and Sponsorships Manager, will also be sponsored by Specsavers.

The Silkmen players are as follows: Jacob Hanson, Neil Kengni, Max Bardsley-Rowe.

The Silkmen have their eyes on silverware again this season.

They are currently second in their league, one point above Glossop North End, and one below Mossley.

To ensure they keep their eyes on the ball and secure future title wins, the players will also be visiting the store to have their eyes tested.

The agreement will also see the store's signature 'He shoots. He misses….. Should've gone to Specsavers' advertisements featured pitch side and on the dug-out boards.

The full squad pose with Specsavers at the Leasing.com Stadium. The club have won four of five league games this season, scoring twelve goals.

Specsavers store director, Angharad Butler told this of the Macclesfield collaboration: 'We're passionate about giving something back to our local community and our sponsorship of Macclesfield FC, as they rise back up the league table once again, is close to everyone's hearts."

Specsavers has been a fixture of the Grosvenor Centre since 1990. They hire about 30 people in Macclesfield.

Macclesfield Specsavers Store Director, Dan Williams had this to add.

"Our support of the club not only celebrates our shared love of the game but more importantly, our efforts to promote healthy living across the region," Dan explained.

"On behalf of all store staff, we want to wish the players every success for the new season and hope that it's as successful as the last!'"

The club's Director of Football and former professional player, Robbie Savage is excited to team up with the Grosvenor Centre's glasses store.

'We're delighted that such a well-known brand, with such a recognisable strapline, has pledged support for the club," said the Prestbury resident.

"We're confident that the deal will help to refocus the players and their eyesight for the new season ahead."
