Macclesfield FC pay tribute to 'much-loved' FA Trophy-winning club legend

Macclesfield FC have paid tribute to a club legend.
The Silkmen have announced the death of 'much-loved' former right-back, George Sievwright.
George, who passed away on Saturday (September 13), made over 250 appearances during his six year stint at Moss Rose, helping the club to win the first editions of both the Northern Premier League and the FA Trophy.
A spokesperson for Macclesfield said: "George will forever remain an iconic part of our history and joined the club back in the summer of 1966.
"Quickly cementing himself as a fan's favourite, George played a pivotal role in the Silkmen winning the first-ever Northern Premier League in 1969 and inaugural FA Trophy at Wembley Stadium the following year.
"In total, George made 266 appearances over six seasons for the Silkmen and the memories created within these will unquestionably live on forevermore.
"Our thoughts and most sincere condolences go out to all George's family and friends at this incredibly sad time.
"Rest in peace, George."
