A local hotel group, Flat Cap Hotels is continuing its commitment to the local community with several initiatives designed to give back to the people they serve.

The company has hotels in Knutsford, Cranage and Prestbury and has been supporting several local charities and communities with their efforts.

The company has worked with both The Christie and East Cheshire Hospice to raise funds for their vital work and has already raised £2,000 in 2023 already for The Christie.

One of these initiatives included working with East Cheshire Hospice, another organisation which sits at the heart of the community it serves by donating much-needed linen to the hospice.

During the lockdown, much of the linen that Flat Cap Hotels would use across its sites remained unused.

With a surplus of linen that could have a home elsewhere, the company contacted East Cheshire Hospice which provides 15 patient beds, bathrooms, and a ward on-site alongside its 'Hospice at Home' service in Macclesfield.

The company donated £8,000 worth of linen to the hospice, helping stretched resources at the hospice.

And whilst, helping the community where it is needed most is important to the company, working with East Cheshire Hospice was an initiative that was quite personal to one employee at Flat Cap Hotels, Lily, whose mother passed away at the hospice in 2018.

Archie Thompson, operations manager at Flat Cap Hotels said: "At Flat Cap we are passionate about giving back to our local communities in everything we do and wherever possible.

"The opportunity to provide our old linen to the hospice to benefit from is one we were extremely pleased could provide.

"It allows us to give back to a community that is so close to many of our hearts at Flat Cap.

"Our Sales & Marketing team are even completing a 10k "Born Survivor" race next Saturday (April 15) to raise funds in support of this."

Alongside its partnership with East Cheshire Hospice, the company has been developing its relationships with the local business communities.

The pandemic and current economic climate had in some ways created a distance in local communities and the company wanted a way to communicate and bring businesses a little closer together.

Flat Cap Hotels set up business groups in each of the communities. Called "Holmes Chapel One", "Prestbury One" and "Knutsford One", the groups are designed to act as a regular business roundtable.

By establishing the groups, they hope that local businesses will be able to support each other, work on the collective needs of their business community and establish connections that ultimately will help drive traffic to the high street.

Archie said: "We know that the pandemic affected companies in our areas, and the current economic climate has certainly not helped.

"We felt that establishing these business groups would be a great way for companies to connect with each other, helping each other and giving a focal point for these efforts to improve the business communities."

But these bigger plans are also complemented by smaller initiatives and events, giving the community a little extra.

Recently, these events came in the shape of an "Easter Eggstravaganza" that included multiple family events at each of their properties.

Archie said: "Our focus is to be a community hub for all generations and provide a family-friendly space for people to celebrate and create memories and we strive to give back to our local communities where possible.

The opportunity to provide family fun activities such as petting zoos, face painting and cupcake decorating free of charge to say thank you to all our local families who support us all year round is one that we relish."
