Cheshire will soon be getting its first Taco Bell if new planning permission submitted to Cheshire East County Council is approved.
Custodian Capital Ltd submitted proposals to open a new Taco Bell eatery inside Unit 4, Phoenix Leisure Park, Crewe.
The former Pizza Hut unit has been under offer for over 12 months - following its forced closure in December 2021.
The chain also has its sights set on other locations within Cheshire as they look to expand, with Cheshire Oaks, Warrington, and Chester all eyed by the chain for future outlets.
Founded in 1962, Taco Bell serves a variety of Mexican-inspired food, including tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and nachos.
The fast-food chain plans to operate a 24-hour drive-thru restaurant in Crewe - making a number of changes to the existing unit.
The planning statement read: "The use of the building will still be the same as it will still be a restaurant but under a new tenant.
"By this restaurant being reopened under a new name, it will give the local residents more choice when wanting to eat out.
"It will also give users of the other facilities on the park a restaurant where they can have a sit-down meal after their leisure event."
As of January 2023, Taco Bell had 129 UK stores - with 113 located in England.
The potential opening of the new Taco Bell could mean that Phoenix Leisure Park could have all units occupied after Tenpin announced they were opening a new entertainment centre - replacing MFA Bowl which closed in 2018.
