Co-op customers can directly help people in Macclesfield with dementia every time they shop.

The Co-op stores in West Park Drive and Westmorland Chase are hoping to raise thousands of pounds to support people with dementia at Macclesfield Hospital.

In October 2023, East Cheshire NHS Charity was chosen as one of the partners of the Co-op Local Community Fund and in the first three months customers have raised an amazing £782.65 for the charity.

All money raised through the partnership will be going towards creating a dementia-friendly garden on Ward 9 at Macclesfield Hospital. The garden will provide a therapeutic space for patients to participate in gardening activities and offer a suitable social environment to enjoy together with their relatives and friends.

Lisa Nixon, Activities Coordinator on Ward 9 said, "We are delighted to hear how much has been raised so far. We would like to thank Co-op customers for donating to our dementia garden fund, your generosity will help to pay for essential garden maintenance and kick start the first stage this project."

Lily Preston, Fundraising Manager at East Cheshire NHS Charity said, "We are thrilled that Co-op members and customers are getting behind their local NHS Charity and supporting Ward 9 at Macclesfield Hospital."

"Supporters, NHS colleagues and patients can sign up as a Co-op member and choose East Cheshire NHS Trust as their local cause to help raise vital funds for Ward 9."
