By Alex Greensmith 14th Jun 2021

A Macclesfield AstraZeneca employee has been appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire.

Juliette Marie White was announced at the weekend to be included within The Queen's Birthday Honours List 2021.

Juliette White is one of eight AstraZeneca employees across Britain to be recognised by Her Majesty last weekend, but she is the only one based in Macclesfield.

Juliette Marie White was made a CBE for "For

services to Life Sciences and the

Medical Supply Chain".

She works in Macc as Vice President, Global SHE (Safety, Health and Environment) and Sustainability, for AstraZeneca plc.

Juliette has worked for AstraZeneca for over three decades.

While the Macclesfield AstraZeneca employee was unavailable for comment, she is believed to be delighted with the honour.

AstraZeneca Executive Vice-President, BioPharmaceuticals R&D, Sir Mene Pangalos, said "I'm delighted that eight of my colleagues have been awarded these special honours by Her Majesty.

"Equally, I'm incredibly proud of all 81,000+ AstraZeneca employees globally for the role they have played in responding to this pandemic.

"Many have worked around the clock in the past 12 months and have put their lives on hold to commit to a bigger humanitarian cause, positively impacting the lives of hundreds of millions of people across the globe."

Juliette White has worked for AstraZeneca since their merger in 1999, she also worked for the pre-merger predecessor Zeneca Pharmeceuticals from 1994-1999 as a HR manager.

The Anglo-Swedish biopharmaceutical company have been pivotal in getting the country out of the pandemic.
