A Bollington musician will appear on a national telly this weekend, in a programme hosted by legendary presenter Mark Radcliffe.

Megan Dixon Hood (26) will appear on Live from the Edge this Sunday, which is on the Sky channel Showcase TV.

Megan, who was born in Macclesfield but lives in Bollington, has appeared on local BBC Introducing

shows on the radio and online before, but it will be her national TV debut.

Megan, who has just under 200,000 plays on Spotify, spoke to Macclesfield Nub News ahead of this weekend's broadcast.

"It's exciting. I was approached by John Delf [a sound mixer for Lily Allen and Plan B] who runs Edge Studios where the show is filmed. We actually recorded my single With Time there a few years ago.

"I was very lucky that John asked me to be involved as part of the series. It was a very magical experience.

"I was able to perform on their beautiful grand piano surrounded by atmospheric fairy lights, so I was in my element to say the least.

"It was slightly surreal after performing to myself for a year's worth of livestreams, to suddenly have seven cameras on me, but it felt so good to be doing what I love, with people who have missed doing what they love for so long too."

Megan recorded three tracks for Live from the Edge - which is filmed in Cheshire.

The show includes interviews and performances with both established and new bands.

The singer, who is inspired by folk tales and mysteries of the world, often heads for walks to Bolly's White Nancy for further inspiration.

The talented Bollington singer's most recent single was an April remix of her most popular song The Wishing Tree. But there is plenty more to come in 2021 following her nationwide broadcast.

"We're currently in the process of creating my debut album, something that will take time to nurture and get just right, so the band and I are going at our own pace with it," she added.

"There will be more singles this year though, and even more excitingly, real life gigs.

"We'll be playing live in the Autumn at London's The Sound Lounge, Stoke's The Underground and Manchester's Deaf Institute.

"But I've really felt a sense of togetherness in my livestreams this last year, and understood what it really means to be a part of a community. That's something that music really celebrates."

You can watch Megan at 1pm on Sunday May 9, by tuning into Live from the Edge on Sky Channel 191.

There will be a link posted to her performance following the airdate, for those who do not have Sky TV.

You can follow her on Apple Music, Spotify, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
