Take a first-look inside Macclesfield's latest coffee shop, which has opened to the public today.

Yas Bean is located on 219 Buxton Road, and is the natural expansion of the Macclesfield coffee business after being founded under a year ago.

It is the latest chapter in the feelgood success story for the Macclesfield business, formed during the pandemic after they both lost their hospitality jobs.

We previously profiled their rise from a Tytherington truck in mid-November, to Bollington's Vale Inn in April.

The bakes for sale include a mint & pistachio tiffin, which can be served as a vegan or non-vegan option.

Mika Johnson (35) and Dan Hardman (37) invited Macclesfield Nub News to their new store, and had this to say:

"We both feel extremely proud," said Mika.

"Both proud of us - what we have achieved as a couple, but also to be in a position to open this store and welcome everyone to us.

"Expect great quality local produce, an excellent cup of coffee, and good times," said Mika.

Macclesfield: Five staff will work at the Buxton Road site.

"We have gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options in addition to meat as well.

"This is also true for our drinks, we oat milk, we have gluten-free and vegan milk, including whole milk from Hopewall Farm [in Poynton].

The grab-and-go style cafe has six seats, and everything you can eat can be taken out.

"Opening It is something we have thought about from time to time but we never did. To have now done it, it feels surreal but it feels really great to be part of the community", added Dan.

Macclesfield's Mayor Cllr David Edwardes gave his approval to the coffee and cake site.

"And we are very happy to have had four walls for once and not be outside."

Dan, who has a bakery business of his own, will be supplying his delicious vegan and non-vegan cakes or brownies to Macc customers in the store.

It is an all local affair for the new coffee shop. Their beans come from Pott Shrigley, their interior design was done by Macclesfield-based Back to the Future interiors, and their in-store art comprises work of a broad spectrum of local artists.

"We exclusively work with the community and those who use local produce," said Mika.

Macclesfield artists such as @intwosandthrees have prints and merchandise for sale at Yas Bean. These local landmark prints are by Soph Hocking (@philosophieuk).

"For example, one of our suppliers for our retail is a small Macclesfield stationary company called Sublime Clouds. We use that for our branding.

"And I think that when you are part of a small local business, it is as much about giving back as it is growing your own business."

Bagels, sandwiches and salads are available at Yas Bean for the perfect working lunch.

They'll also sell various Macc-themed art from local talent.

The Macclesfield married couple and business partners also have a Facebook @yasssbean.

"We've had so much support from other local business from Macclesfield, and also have our community to thank. It has been incredible. We love you," they concluded.

Their website, where you can also order their acclaimed grinds of coffee to your door, can be found here.

Their opening times are 8am - 4pm Monday - Friday (closed Wednesday), and 9am - 4pm at weekends.
