The highlight of the final week of term at Tytherington School was the return of the Christmas Pantomimes.

The Macclesfield educational institution introduced the pantos in December 2015, and they are now a highlight of the school calendar.

It was the sixth time Tytherington School have hosted pantos.

Last year, COVID-19 restrictions prevented the performances from taking place so the students were delighted to see them back this year.

Nearly 100 students were involved in either being part of the cast, the production team or creating the set and costumes. There were a trio of performances, all of which were a rousing success.

Each house performed their own interpretation of a classic pantomime. Ash House kicked things off with a performance of Snow White and the Eight Gnomes.

Elm House performed Dick Whittington and his Crazy Cat, whilst Oak House's offering was Ali Baba and the Ten Thieves.

Headteacher, Mr Manny Botwe, said: "The pantomimes are special because they provide students with an opportunity to be part of an audience as well as giving youngsters the chance to perform, sing and dance in front of their family and friends."

"A huge well done to everybody who took part," he added.

Year 11 student Anna Wilkie said: "I had a fab time performing to an audience again, I really loved spending time with not only Elm's cast but everyone involved in the pantos! It was great to be able to watch the other houses too."

Tytherington School has over 1,300 pupils.

The academy can be contacted via the details found on their webpage.
