An employee of Macclesfield's newest gym has tragically died in a car accident.

Anna Ledgar, who is Manager of the recently-opened Stealth Gymnasium, passed away after the incident on Monday lunchtime. She was aged just 28.

Macclesfield FC, which own and host Stealth Gymnasium in their London Road sporting complex, led tributes to Anna on social media this morning.

They said: "It is with the heaviest of hearts and a sense of unparalleled surrealism that Macclesfield FC can confirm the tragic passing of Stealth Gymnasium Manager and much-loved friend, Anna Ledgar."

"Anna was a well-respected and incredibly talented member of our team, whose infectious personality never failed to brighten even the darkest of days.

"What helped to make Anna so unique was her unrelenting passion to help others.

"Anna was born to inspire and somehow managed to achieve this effortlessly and in a manner that endeared her to each and every one of us.

"There was no question that Anna was the perfect choice to take on the role of Stealth Gymnasium Manager, as both her professionalism and enthusiasm instantly shone through.

"Indeed, Anna made no secret of the fact that this was her dream job and it was clearly visible for all to see.

"Anna was travelling to the workplace she loved when she became a victim of a serious car accident on Monday morning and this would ultimately take her from us in the most horrific of circumstances.

"Anna had a whole lifetime ahead of her and despite the fact that the mental scars elicited from her passing will undoubtedly never heal, her vibrant legacy will forever remain in the hearts and minds of all who were privileged enough to know her.

"We would like to offer our thoughts, prayers and unwavering support to Anna's family and friends at this devastating time.

"We will never forget you Anna x"

Macclesfield raised Anna attended Tytherington School.

She would later work in sports facilities across Macclesfield, being employed in January 2017 by Everybody Sports and Fitness.

This included a stint at Macclesfield Leisure Centre on Priory Lane, and Everybody Fitnesses' other Macclesfield facility in Alderley Park.

It was there where she had her last Personal Trainer role, before getting the big job at Macclesfield FC's state-of-the-art gym.

Having just secured a senior role as Gym Manager of Stealth, which opened in August, she was enjoying her new role and looking forward to settling down with her boyfriend.

Anna enjoyed horse riding and paddleboarding. The late fitness-lover was a qualified sports masseuse, and she also led fitness sessions in America for Girl Scouts.

She posted a picture of her dogs to Instagram on Sunday, just one day before her early death.

Over 300 Macclesfield residents have already paid tribute online.

An ex-teacher said: "Such sad news. I taught Anna at Tytherington many years ago and met up with her again at the leisure centre gym. Such a positive lovely young lady. My condolences to her family and all who knew her."

A woman said: "I am really struggling to process this. This cannot be right. She was so young, fit and healthy. Such a welcoming smile when you entered the gym and so friendly. My condolences to her family and friends."

Another said: "Although I didn't know Anna this had completely taken the wind out of my sails.

"For a beautiful young vibrant and enthusiastic young woman to be taken so early is heart breaking.

"I can't imagine what her family and friends must be going through but my thoughts and prayers are with them. RIP Anna."

A partner of a relative said: "Anna was the kindest, most infectious and caring young woman that had so much to live for. You will always be with us, always in our hearts."

A gofundme page has been set in Anna's memory by the football club, and has already raised £1600.
