Times are tough, but you deserve to treat yourself.

A Chinese takeaway has announced two discounts it is offering punters in Macclesfield.

Sun Wi Village, of 104 Mill Street, is ran by Zhen Feng Li and family who previously ran Sun Wi Village from 2002 to 2013.

The business then reopened on the same site in December 2023, under a new name called 'Healthy Takeaway'.

However, the business has since reverted to their old, beloved name, and introduced special offers to raise awareness.

"I have changed the takeaway name to Sun Wi Village, as it brings some great memories back," said Zhen Li.

They serve traditional oriental dishes, without MSG. Menu items include Chinese favourites like dim sum and barbecue ribs, Singapore vermicelli, and Korean food. (The latter of which, is a rarity in Macclesfield.)

"At the moment, we are giving 20% off orders of £20 or over," added Zhen Li.

"After this 20% offer ends, we will still have a discount 10% discount off for key workers.

"This 10% discount applies to NHS staff and emergency service personnel, and can be used now."

The Blue Light Card has existed for years to get discounts for key workers, but businesses flocked to offer it during the pandemic, as thanks for their hard work in the community.

A Blue Light Card is required to get this discount, which can be shown at checkout.

Many businesses, like Zhen Li's, are still offering NHS, police, fire and ambulance personnel discounts, four years on from the pandemic.

The revert to the name Sun Wi Village was confirmed in February 2024. But the takeaway is still as healthy as it was when it reopened late last year under the retired moniker 'Healthy Takeaway'.

The best-selling dishes include pad Thai, Korean gochjang sauce with udon, Korean chicken, and vegetable fried rice.

They have also just added a new dish to the menu, which will create intrigue for Macclesfield foodies.

The Sun Wi Village Secret Recipe Sauce, contains shallots, chilli, herbs and spices with meat or non-meat options of your choosing.

There are secret ingredients that makes this sauce an instant classic added to the Sun Wi Village menu, and was inspired by a recent meal out Zhen Li had.

If you haven't ordered from Sun Wi Village since their first era (2002-2013), there are other new additions to the menu that has responded to Asian food trends gaining popularity in the UK.

These include street food dishes like hoi sin duck flatbread and teriyaki chicken loaded chips.
