Idyllic country pub near Macclesfield to host 'silent' Bonfire Night

A dog-friendly pub in Macclesfield is to host a silent Bonfire Night, as an alternative for those who want an evening of seasonal fun but without the fireworks.

The Ship Inn, in the idyllic parish of Wincle, will host a silent Bonfire Night, on Tuesday November 5.

The pub, which is one of the best rated places to eat in Macclesfield on TripAdvisor, is a way to celebrate Guy Fawkes Night, but away from the hubbub and noise of fireworks.

Christine Hartley is co-publican at The Ship Inn, Wincle.

"We are delighted to host our second silent bonfire night," she said.

"We did it last year and it was really popular.

"Because we are so dog friendly, we came up with the idea.

"To be honest, I am scared of fireworks as well!

The pub serves a top quality, freshly-cooked meal for dogs throughout the year, but dogs that hate the noise of fireworks will love the escape The Ship Inn will be able to offer this Bonfire Night. (Image - Macclesfield Nub News)

"So we get into the spirit, we light a couple of fire pits, put the gazebos up, but there's no fireworks round here.

"You'll be able to enjoy our food, providing a full BBQ with burgers, sausages, chicken, and more which you can pay for.

"We also serve a doggy dinner, all-year round, for just £3.50.

"We have complimentary sparklers for the kids, and toasted marshmallows.

"Come and enjoy a winter warmer, in good company at The Ship Inn Wincle."

The JW Lees pub has three fireplaces to add to the cosy vibes. There is also a dog-free dining area so everyone is catered for.

The lack of light pollution in Wincle also makes it an ideal place for seasonal stargazing.

The cosy rural Macclesfield pub, is believed to date back to the 16th or early 17th century.

To attend the silent Bonfire Night, no booking is required, and entry is free.

The festivities kick off from 6pm, on Tuesday November 5.

So if you and your furry friend(s) want to escape noise and hubbub of fireworks this Bonfire Night, but still engage with your local community, why not head down to The Ship Inn Wincle?
