13 weekly Cheshire East COVID-deaths as we round-up Macclesfield's latest case figures

Macclesfield: Here's your quick digest on COVID in our area this morning.

The weekly case total passed the 1500 threshold last week, and could reach 2000 cases per week by the end of the month if the current case rate increase continues.

Please find the figures for the amount of new positive tests in the Macclesfield area during the last seven days.

There were 1418 cases for the seven days up to December 28, the point of the previous seven days. This is a difference of 196 more new cases across Macclesfield in a week, than there were on December 28. While we don't have the specific data for Macc yet, only five days prior, 1,104 of Cheshire East's 380,000 population new people had a confirmed positive test result reported on 9 January 2022. Across our areas local hospitals, four people with coronavirus went into hospital on 2 January 2022. These include Macclesfield District General Hospital, Congleton War Memorial Hospital and Knutsford and District Community Hospital. Specific numbers per hospital are unavailable for data protection reasons. Between 27 December 2021 and 2 January 2022, 31 went into hospital with coronavirus . This shows an increase of 40.9% compared to the previous 7 days. There were 41 patients in hospital with coronavirus on 4 January 2022, the most recent data variable. Just one coronavirus patient in a hospital bed used a mechanical ventilator on 4 January 2022. In good news, there were zero deaths within 28 days of a positive test for coronavirus reported on 9 January 2022. However, between 3 January 2022 and 9 January 2022, there have been 13 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test. This shows an increase of 62.5% compared to the previous seven days. Vaccination rate for Central Macclesfield residents over 12 and over is as follows: 1st dose - 83.6%

2nd dose - 78.5%
