300,000 people fall in love with story of independent Macclesfield coffee shop

A Macclesfield coffee shop has gained a national audience, after a high profile collaboration.

Yas Bean, of 219 Buxton Road, were recently visited by takeaway app JustEat.

The national food app profiled the story of the grab-and-go coffee shop, which began as a coffee truck in lockdown, since graduating to their premises in east Macclesfield.

The shop also sells a range of locally-sourced lunch options, and gooey brownies which can be ordered across the UK.

And baking royalty came to profile Yas Bean, as former The Great British Bake Off contestant Sandro Farmhouse presented the video featuring Yas Bean owners Mika Johnson and Dan Hardman.

The video has been posted on every platform, with over 269,000 views on YouTube, 6694 views on TiKTok, and 382 likes on Instagram.

Macclesfield Nub News spoke with the coffee shop's co-owner Mika Johnson to find out more.

Mika Johnson had this to say on the team up with Just Eat.

"Just Eat have been our preferred delivery partner," said Mika.

"And because of this strong partnership, they reached out to us for their pride feature.

"We launched on Just Eat a couple of months ago, because we wanted to reach more customers in Macclesfield.

"We serve our whole range of iced drinks, sandwiches and cakes on Just Eat. People are loving getting iced matchas to their door for the summer.

"The platform was always going to be a happy extra, and it is building every week which is great. We have some regular orders that come through Just Eat each week. It is great for offices and lunch hours like that, people can pre-order.

"Our customers, friends and family are so supportive and so excited for us.

"The reason that these outlets wants to promote us is they can see, or sense that great community feel that we have.

"It is a big topic, supporting local not only helps your local economy. It is better for the environment, and better for your mental health as well.

"It is lovely we can all work together to create a community.

"Some of our neighbours say since this street came alive, they get to meet new people. We all create things together.

"Everyone is happy to see us getting out there because it shines a light on the whole town."
