A young Macclesfield entrepreneur and baker will soon be making his dreams come true with the opening of his own cake and coffee shop.

James Hallworth, 21, a Tytherington native, started his first business, Cakeface By James, during the pandemic where he turned his talent for baking to creating cakes and selling them online.

He told Macclesfield Nub News: "It was around July when I finished my business degree and I just did it from home at the start. Then in October I got my own premises to bake from and now I've bought the coffee shop."

James' bakes used to be a popular menu item at the Arighi Bianchi café where he worked for two years.

The new coffee shop will be on Buxton Road, an area James described as a "perfect opportunity" given the lack of cafes in the area.

"From a young age, I've always wanted a coffee shop, so this is what I've been working towards," James said.

He added: "I love like working with customers and seeing their reaction when they try my cakes and it's just nice to have that interaction."

Alongside his baking business, James currently works at John Lewis, a role that attracted him because of the interaction he gets with the customers.

Cakeface By James has proved a popular hit, with orders coming in from as far away as London.

Asked how it has been establishing a business at a relatively young age, James said: "For me, it has been quite easy because I've always had a little side business. From a young age, I made cakes for people, so I always had my name out there, especially making them for my mum's friends.

"It's just kind of grown from there. Just through word of mouth, people have heard that I make cakes."

James says he hopes to open the coffee shop to customers by late April or early May.

He added: "I'm very excited about it, I can't contain my excitement. It's just something I've always wanted and it's finally happening."

In the meantime, you can order from Cakeface by James online by visiting the website.
