It was smiles all round at King's on GCSE results day 2026.

This year's results continued the upward trend for academic attainment at King's, which has seen significant increases for the last three years at both GCSE and A-level.

Some 85% of all grades are at 9 to 6 (A* to B), with 64% at 9 to 7 and 42% at 9 to 8.

A third of pupils achieved at least nine of the top grades (9 to 7), with 80% of pupils managing a 9 or 8 in at least one subject.

Head of foundation, Jason Slack, said: "We are incredibly proud of our Year 11 students - these outstanding GCSE results are the product of immense hard work, commitment and talent, and continue the school's year-on-year improvements in academic achievement.

"What makes this success particularly remarkable is that so many students have balanced their studies with performing and competing at the very highest levels in sport, music and drama, embracing all aspects of school life while maintaining exceptional academic focus.

"They have not only achieved excellent results but have also developed the resilience, leadership and character that will serve them well in the future.

"I look forward to welcoming these students into our Sixth Form, where I am confident they will continue to thrive and excel."

Equestrian champion Rubi Ambrey Brosnahan, gifted musician Harriet Bright, netballer Lottie Baxter and swimmer Harry Bracey all achieved ten straight 9s in their GCSEs, with another top grade in their further maths.

All will be staying on at King's sixth form to study A-levels.

Also securing top marks were Isabel Challinor, who achieved all 9s and 8s, world cheerleading champion Mimi Ross, all 9 to 7, Cheshire Fell team member Daisy Whittington, and Christopher Fuchs, who got a string of top grades.

Other high flyers achieving a string of grades 9 to 7 include Macclesfield resident Brianna Gargoles, who is planning to study biochemical engineering at university, former school captain and rugby player Frank Shanahan, first team tennis player Lucy Atkinson and rugby player Elias Barnsley.

Trampolinist Charlotte Grant achieved all 9s and 8s while county level swimmer and hockey player Noah Wild will now take maths, physics and geography at A-level before applying to study engineering at university.

Deputy head Richard Griffiths said: "These results are a triumph for a year group who have put into practice all of the learning habits that we develop at King's, including resilience in spades.
