Arrest made as hit-and-run leaves man with 'life-threatening' injuries

A hit-and-run has left a man with 'life-threatening' injuries.
Cheshire Police have confirmed that a 40-year-old man from Tameside has been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop for an accident and causing serious injury by careless driving.
It follows a crash in the Hibel Road area of Macclesfield in the early hours of Sunday, February 1.
The incident resulted in a 53-year-old man sustaining injuries which have been described as 'life-threatening'.
A spokesperson for the police said: "At around 5.30am on Sunday, February 1, officers in Macclesfield responded to reports of a collision in the Hibel Road area of the town, where a 53-year-old local man was reported to have sustained injuries.
"The 53-year-old was subsequently taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary, where he remains at this time.
"His injuries are believed to be life threatening.
"Following a number of enquiries, officers have since arrested a 40-year-old man from Tameside on suspicion of failing to stop for an accident and causing serious injury by careless driving."
