A number of Macclesfield's fish and chip shops are reopening their doors with social distancing measures in place after closing for the lockdown.

The Chippy at Broken Cross announced on their social media on Monday (20th April) that their "fryers are heating up", with the chip shop opening yesterday with some changes to how they operate.

The post said: "Obviously we are now operating under strict new guidelines that we have put in place to protect the safety of our staff and customers. Please be patient with us, respect the boundaries and most importantly, be kind."

The Chippy will be open Tuesday to Saturday, from 4pm to 8pm and they will be operating online orders for 'zero-contact' collection only. They will not be accepting walk-in or phone orders.

The online order system will involve a 5-minute collection slot on a table at the front door. You order on their website.

The Silktown Fyer on Castle Street also began serving their loyal customers once more with and have on social distancing measures, such as installing a screen and limits on those inside for staff and customer safety.

The Mill Lane Chippy joined others in reopening this week with a new rule of one customer in at a time to maintain social distancing.

In a Facebook post, the chippy said that card payments are preferred, they will still be accepting cash payments if needed.

They will be open during their usual opening time hours of 11:30am to 2pm and 4:30pm to 8pm, Monday to Saturday and late opening until 9pm on Friday.
